Pedal Tots is aimed at children who are new to pedals and is for all ages. This continues the development of gross motor skills and dynamic balance. The main goal is to improve the children’s confidence using pedals while also looking at how to start and stop, braking, steering, using the ready position, looking over a shoulder, standing on pedals and much more. The sessions are planned according to the ability and need of each rider.
The Bikertot must be able to pedal a pedal bike on their own with no stabilisers. They do not need to be able to start or stop as we teach them that.
It is usually run over 5 sessions each lasting 45 minutes.Session are all on pedal bikes outside. Children build upon skills taught from the previous week. Most importantly, sessions are fun. Through having fun children will build their confidence and their skills on pedals.
Bike helmets must be worn and can be provided by Bikertots, or they can wear their own suitably fitting one. Children are encouraged to use their own bikes, but bikes can be provided by Bikertots as well.
